As it turns out, life reli can be pretty darn good and at the moment i honestly cannot complain about a thing. So I got hired to work for the new Coach store that will FINALY be opening here at the westfield topanga mall and i'm SUPER excited, not just about the fact that i will be getting more hours here than i did in sb but that i got a raise. Which means that Shannon will be staying in the Valley this summer because they want me to stay and help open the store. Which also means that Shannon will be paying rent on her own... let's hope that goes well. Which also means Shannon will be taking summer school through SBCC's online course. Which brings me to my next topic. I'm thinking of minoring in political science. I think it will greatly compliment my career goal. I was talking to an advisor the other day because i mentioned i wanted to minor in business (just to have sumthing to fall back on) and he asked if i'd be willing to take more math... hahaha yeah right. So he asked me if he were to send me out that moment to do a story on anything of my choice what would it be. Initially i just thought FASHION but after a split second i realized I'd rather work on race relations and ethnic issues. And of course my dreams of traveling the globe and reporting on everything that the world has to offer came flooding in. And i thought DUH! POL SCI! Speaking of pol sci I realized sumthing the otherday in that class. We were talking about the history of India's government and how they have had femal prime ministers and leaders. I asked the professor why even though India has had female leaders, a large amount of discrimination and inequality still exists, it just didn't make sense. Then he brought up that even countries like sri lanka and pakistan have had female leaders. The thing that all of them have in common is the fact that all these women in power were of blood or spousal relation to men who were formally in power. For instance in india when prime minister Nehru died, his daughter was immediately appointed the position. Then I made the comment that it seemed as if America was finally moving in the same direction as all these asian countries by having a woman (Hilary Clinton) rise to power through a powerful family member. What made me sad was that just like all those other countries, even though America can finally have a woman as a leading political figure in power, it does not nessesarily mean that women will see a significant amount of change and improvement anytime soon because of it. So thats y i came up with the master plan to conqure the world one day. It'll be great. And I'm going to do it. And it's not going to be because of who i am related to or who i married. =) Oh yeah I watched Schindlers List today with my roomate and friend because our film teacher recommended it FREAKING INTENSE. most brutally beautiful movie i have ever seen. Extremely moving and to me was worth the 3 hour time frame it took to watch it. Which is why I am up so late. ok i need to sleep, even though i have so many things going on in my head. But i just had to release some of it. geez I want to type more but i've got to stop. |
